How we began
SuperStars was born in 2005, the brainchild of our founder and non-executive chairman, James Taylor. During his gap year and while studying for his degree, James worked with children in Africa, America and the UK. Lots of students do this but then go on to completely different careers.
For James it was different. He’d been working with up to 30 children at a time, teaching PE, drama, music and art. He saw first-hand the positive impact these subjects have. No matter what circumstances the children were living in or where they were from, James saw them all become healthier, happier and more confident.
Once he’d finished his degree, James couldn’t decide what career to follow. Nothing excited him or seemed to offer the sense of satisfaction he’d felt when working with the children. He was sure of one thing though. He wanted every child to have the chance to look forward to a bright future.
To help make this happen, James knew he needed to build an organisation of like-minded people. So, with just £1,000 from his parents (a gift meant to help him continue travelling) and a business plan he’d written on the back of an envelope, James created SuperStars.
By 2014, James had won the Institute of Directors UK Director of the Year award and SuperStars was working with more than 60,000 children every week!
James’ vision and ambition is to see SuperStars continue to grow. He wants us to work across the whole of the UK so we can help more than 1,000,000 children every week develop bright futures.
Because everyone here shares his ambition, we say, watch this space!
What We Do
Through specialised PE, drama, music, and art lessons, delivered by subject specialists, we empower both children and adults to learn, grow, and shine.
Our approach broadens your school’s curriculum, offering diverse experiences, nurturing new talents, and boosting self-confidence.
Additionally, SuperStars provides enriching holiday courses that blend fun and learning, ensuring children continue to thrive beyond the school year.
Our Values
More than just words, our values guide everything we do. Positivity, People-Focus, and Aspirational drive our friendly and collaborative approach. We prioritise outcomes, aiming high to elevate standards for children, schools, and our team.
Our Difference
We’re not a supply agency; we’re here to work collaboratively to enhance your school’s value and standards. Our Senior Leadership and Operations team handle recruitment, training, and HR management responsibilities, ensuring a high-quality service.
By focusing on continuous improvement, we measure success through teacher observations, impact on learning, and the quality of service provided to you. SuperStars lets you and your team concentrate on other important areas within your school while we elevate standards.
